About Poker Games

Poker games – reading people and having a strong hand!

In poker, they say, you don't play your cards; you play your opponents. Observing the other players is a very important factor in poker games. In addition, probabilities should guide your actions, and of course, winning also requires a good portion of luck. In our free online poker games, you can practice all these skills and become a true card ace. You only play for play money!

Poker rules explained simply

Poker is primarily about getting the most out of your hand and, ideally, winning the other players' bets. That doesn't always work, but bluffing can certainly pay off, even when your cards are terrible.

There is always a dealer at the table who deals the cards; in casinos, this is handled by an employee. At the beginning, each player receives two cards, known as hole cards. During the game, a total of five cards are revealed, known as community cards. Players must assess their own cards, combine them with the community cards, and place their bets in the form of chips. You should therefore know the rules and the ranking of the cards. There are various poker variants; Texas Hold'em and Seven Card Stud are very well known. All games include instructions, and you can also find hand-ranking tables, poker rules, and tips. The game then proceeds through several betting rounds, during which the poker players at the table place bets and can call or fold if they do not believe they have good chances of winning. The player with the best hand who is still playing at the end wins the poker round and the bets in the pot. If several players remain in the game, the final revealing of all cards is called a showdown.

These poker hands are available

Here is an overview of the relevant card combinations, known as poker hands. A hand describes the best 5 out of 52 cards a player has. In Texas Hold'em, it refers to 7 out of 52 cards. The probabilities of obtaining these combinations vary: a royal flush is the least likely, while a high card is the most likely.

  • Royal Flush: five consecutive cards of the same suit, with the ace as the highest card.
  • Straight Flush: five consecutive cards of the same suit, also called a suited straight.
  • Four of a Kind: four cards of the same rank.
  • Full House: consists of three of a kind and a pair, meaning three cards and two cards of the same rank.
  • Flush: five cards of the same suit.
  • Straight: consists of five consecutive cards in different suits, also called a straight in German.
  • Three of a Kind: three cards of the same rank and two other cards.
  • Two Pair: two sets of two cards with the same rank.
  • One Pair: one rank appears twice in the hand.
  • High Card: none of the combinations above is present, so only the highest card in the hand counts.
